  • In this video, I show the automatic lightbulb socket from cdrking. It uses a light dependent resistor (LDR) to measure how much light is in the room. When the light goes below a certain threshold, the bulb is turned on. It’s a standard E27 screw type socket and can take bulbs up to 40 watts.

    When recording my videos, I use around 250 watts of lighting – that’s why I had to really block the sensor to make it think it’s night time.

    Sorry about the buzzing during the video. The light socket I’m using for the demo is hooked up to a dimmer and the LED bulb is also dimmable. As such, the power is being turned on and off at a very high rate and is causing interference through the clip on microphone I’m wearing.

    Overall it seems to work well and the 100 peso price from cdr-king is much cheaper than alternatives from hardware shops like Ace and Wilcon.
